Anthony — My Story

When I found out about the contest I struggle with my lack of time to be able to submit. I finally got a little bit of time free and I took it just for this contest.

When thinking about an app to submit, I almost went with the idea of just building some cool and crazy arty user interface for the app. However, I finally decided to build something that in my opinion will be a lot more useful, simple yet powerful and with a lot of potential to be used, shared and enhanced.

I have uploaded a short video and a few screen shots of the app my newest Windows Phone application.

The concept is to allow users to filter the huge quantities of personal photos on their social and personal spaces, enabling them to pick and date-tag their photos and create a visual story of themselves that is easily accessible and shareable with the world.

The prototype shows the app running on the Windows Phone Emulator on my development machine first, and then the actual app running on my Nokia Lumia 800.

The app will allow users to consume pictures from social networks, local storage and the phone camera. Then users can use the photos to create a visual story of themselves which they can navigate through a simple slider. Future development will allow users to apply visual effects to the story, save settings, edit the story and create several more stories and then share the story on the social space.

The concept can go beyond personal and life picture stories and be used to tells stories about work, projects, arts, friends and anything that can be told by user pictures !

I believe the idea has potential and goes along with the Nokia and Windows Phone/Metro principles of simplicity, share-ability, ease of use and access. Also, I think applications should help users to filter out the incredible amounts of information and not the other way around.

From here, the basics are built. Applying user interface effects, animations, adding new features and expressing art in the user interface can be done easily. Hopefully, you will also believe in the concept of this idea and you will help me to take it beyond !

The application was implemented entirely by myself, including the icons that don't come with the Windows Phone SDK.
